The exhibition Painting in Excess: Kyiv’s Art Revival, 1985–1993 explores the inventive new art styles by Ukrainian artists responding to a trying transitional period of perestroika (restructuring) during the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Now on view through October 17, 2021, the exhibition highlights the unique – and often overlooked – photographic innovations by women who shaped the history of photography during the 20th century. Registration is open for a virtual lecture on October 1.

The artist and Rutgers alumna welcomes Zimmerli members for a virtual visit to her studio in Woodstock, New York. She joins interim director and curator Donna Gustafson on Zoom to discuss her work from the last decade and the museum's recent acquisition of her 2011 large-scale abstract painting Still.
