Getting to the Zimmerli

The Zimmerli is a short walk from the NJTransit New Brunswick train station, midway between New York City and Philadelphia. Once you leave the station, walk one block north on College Avenue to Hamilton Street. Then walk one block east to get to the museum.
- NJTransit's Northeast Corridor line provides New Brunswick with both local and express service between Penn Station in New York and Newark and Trenton, New Jersey.
- SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) provides service at Trenton to and from Philadelphia.
- Amtrak provides limited direct service to New Brunswick; in addition, connections are available via NJTransit trains to principal Amtrak stations at MetroPark, New York, and Trenton.

New Jersey Turnpike North or South
- Take Exit 9. After toll booths, bear to the right; follow signs for "Route 18 North - New Brunswick."
- Follow directions below for Route 18 North.
Garden State Parkway South, coming from northern New Jersey
- Take Exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike and drive south to Exit 9.
- Follow directions below for Route 18 North.
Garden State Parkway North, coming from southern New Jersey
- Take Exit 105 and follow signs for Route 18 North.
- After approximately 24 miles, pass the entrance for the New Jersey Turnpike and continue on Route 18 North.
- Follow directions below for Route 18 North.
Route 1 North or South
- Take the exit for "Route 18 North - New Brunswick"
- Follow directions below for Route 18 North.
Route 18 North
- Proceed north on Route 18, continue past the exit for Route 27, and take the exit for "George Street - Rutgers University" (approximately 2.6 miles from Turnpike). Note: This is the second George Street exit.
- Turn left on George Street at the top of the exit ramp.
- Zimmerli Art Museum is on the right at the corner of George and Hamilton streets at the first traffic light.
Route 287 North or South
- Turn off at Exit 9 "River Road, Bound Brook, Highland Park."
- Proceed east on River Road toward Highland Park until you reach the fifth traffic light (approximately 3.4 miles) at the intersection of River Road and Route 18.
- Turn right onto Route 18 South and cross the Raritan River on the John Lynch Memorial Bridge.
- Stay in the right lane and take the first exit, which is marked "George Street - Rutgers University, New Brunswick."
- Zimmerli Art Museum is at the corner of George and Hamilton streets.

Metered parking is available in front of the museum and other adjacent streets; additional paid parking is available in the Gateway Center Parking Garage. A designated accessible street parking space is available in front of the museum.
