The Zimmerli is open to the public and offers FREE admission to all!

Museum Hours

Sunday, Saturday noon–5 p.m.
Monday, Tuesday Closed
Wednesday, Friday 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
Thursday 11 a.m.–8 p.m.

Summer Hours (May 8 to July 31)

  • The Zimmerli closes at 6 p.m. on Thursdays.
  • The Zimmerli lobby is closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Holidays

The museum is closed Juneteenth (Observed third Friday of June), July 4, Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, and December 25 to January 1.

Gallery Closures / Activity

  • November 15-16, the Lower Dodge Gallery is closed all day.
  • November 20, the Lower Dodge Gallery is hosting a publicly accessible lecture organized by Rutgers University's Art History Department. The lecture takes place from 4:30-5:45 PM. The gallery remains open during this time.

Know Before You Go

Visitor Guidelines

Food, beverages, backpacks, umbrellas, bags larger than 11x15 in, pens, and markers are prohibited in galleries. Lockers are available.

Visitors are invited to take photographs for personal, non-commercial use, unless otherwise noted on site. Use of flash, video cameras, tripods, monopods, or camera extension poles is not permitted.

Please step outside the galleries when making or receiving a call.

The Zimmerli is a smoke-free institution. All tobacco products and related electronic devices are prohibited.

Café

TJ's Café is located in the museum lobby.

HOURS

Monday to Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday - Closed

Closed November 26 through November 30, reopens December 1.

TJ's Café opens at 11 a.m. the week of December 16th and closes for winter break from December 23 to January 20.
