SparkNight: Celebrating Women's History Month

SparkNight is the free art party at the Zimmerli, inviting everyone to explore art, engage their creativity, and have fun!
Celebrate Women’s History Month with performances, art making, music, and pop-up tours that highlight contributions of Native American Women Artists included in the Zimmerli’s special exhibition Indigenous Identities: Here, Now & Always.

Take part in a zine-making workshop led by artist, Steph Littlebird, who's illustration work is featured in the children's book, My Powerful Hair, as well as the current exhibition at the Zimmerli by the same name.
Zines 101: Learn about the world of zines and how they can be a powerful community tool. Explore various examples brought from Steph’s personal zine collection and get inspired to make our own! Create: Each class member will make their own single-sheet zine and fill the 8 pages with their choice of content.
Steph Littlebird is an artist, curator, writer, and a member of Oregon’s Grand Ronde Confederated Tribes (Clatsop Chinook, Afalati Kalapuya). She received national recognition as curator of This IS Kalapuyan Land (2020) an exhibition at the Five Oaks Museum in Portland, Oregon which was featured by ArtNews and PBS NewsHour. Littlebird's first illustrated children's book MY POWERFUL HAIR (2023) was awarded the national Carter G. Woodson Social Studies Award (2024). Littlebird currently lives and works in the Pacific Northwest.

Free and open to the public. Complimentary light refreshments. Food available for purchase from food trucks outside the Zimmerli starting at 12 p.m.
Pre-register here for free visitor parking, which allows you to park in Lots 11, 16, 26, 30, & College Avenue Deck. Until this process is completed, your vehicle is not registered and you may receive a citation. Special event parking and special event permits are only for visitors to the university and does not include free metered parking. Faculty, staff, and students must park only in lots where they are authorized to park. Please note, this is a unique link for this event and not valid for any other dates or events.
- For directions to campus parking lots, search by the lot number on the Rutgers map.
- Lot 16 is the closest to the Zimmerli, located behind the museum. For directions, you also may use the address 536 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901, which is the building located next to the lot entrance.
