The New Jersey Arts Annual has long offered a view of the art being made across the state. The sixty-second edition at the Zimmerli brings together sixteen artists, each represented by a significant installation or multiple works. Juror Hank Willis Thomas (born in Plainfield, NJ, in 1976) selected a wide-ranging, intergenerational group of artists. This Annual offers a different way to think about a statewide survey in a rapidly changing present: not as an attempt to encompass everything, but as an invitation to experience art more fully.
Included Artists
Lavett Ballard, Ana Benaroya, Aaron Boucher, Storm Cuff, Christina Freeman, Sylvan Hamburger, Donté K. Hayes, Caren King Choi, jc lenochan, Jackie Neale, Chelsea Odufu, Miguel Romero-Trejos, Jesse Satterfield, Sasha Stiles, Kimisha Turner, and Roberto Visani
The New Jersey Arts Annual is sponsored by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
This exhibition is made possible through generous support from donors to the Zimmerli’s Major Exhibition Fund: Kathrin and James Bergin, Sundaa and Randy Jones, Heena and Hemanshu Pandya, and Mark L. Pomerantz.
The Zimmerli’s operations, exhibitions, and programs are funded in part by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and income from the Avenir Endowment Fund and the Andrew W. Mellon Endowment Fund, among others. Additional support comes from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and the museum’s donors, members, and friends.
Generous support for bilingual text was provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
