Alex Melamid and the Incoherents
Organized in conjunction with Komar and Melamid: A Lesson in History, this exhibition features recent works by Alex Melamid and his collaborators alongside works from the Zimmerli’s permanent collection created by The Incoherents, a group of Parisian artists and writers known for their inventive and disruptive work during the 1880s and 1890s. Featuring posters, puppets, drawings, and illustrated journals by both Melamid and the Incoherents, with contributions by Liz Magic Laser, Laurence Krauser, Olga Okenuva, Christina Rodriguez, and Irina Saakyan, the exhibition celebrates spirited creativity and irreverent art through art, language, and performance.
Organized by Alex Melamid and Christine Giviskos, Ph.D., Curator of Prints, Drawings, and European Art
